You’ll want to spend more time working and cleaning in the kitchen with this fabulous kitchen island that’s for sale. My dutiful and talented business partner, DavidandCharlotte Burke made my vision for this cast-off frame come to amazing fruition. The existing frame was bought at a yard sale a while back. David knew I wanted this as a kitchen island, so he added the block of wood on top. (Interestingly enough- he’s had this wood for 40 years that he salvaged from a Jewish synagogue in Texas. He estimates it could be over 100 years old.)
Here’s the specs: it’s 50” long, 28” wide, 36” tall. It’s the perfect kitchen cabinet height. The butcher block top has been generously treated with tung oil, ensuring that not only is it kitchen friendly, it’ll be protected for years to come. The drawer fully extends, and measures 12”x16” inside.
And let’s not forget those amazing casters that allow you to move the island wherever you want it, plus provide a pop of color.

These kinds of pictures are my favorite. Ones with no slight variation of the before and after. This right here is why I drag pieces home, questioning my sanity, yet all the while knowing there is beauty deep within. I am grateful for my partner, David Burke, who has the fine carpentry skills to recreate door panels and tops. Once he passed it off to me, I stained and polyurethaned. It’s now in the dining room of its new owner.

I needed gloves to remove this little gem from an Estate Sale a couple months ago. I thought it would be the perfect size as a coffee table. What would go better for a top on that table than wood? I love to see the juxtaposition of wood and metal. My cohort, David Burke, was the one who made the idea a reality. His carpentry genius made the herringbone pattern look like it’s always been this way. Contact me for information if you’d like this in your living space.
