In 1968, Air Van, Inc began operations in Atlanta, Georgia. Herb Matthews and Lex Benton were in the trucking industry and saw the need for final mile delivery of air freight in Atlanta and Jacksonville, Florida. Air Cargo International (ACI) was a company with franchised locations to provide final mile delivery under their managed structure. Air Van was formed as a franchisee of ACI to provide this service in both cities.
Air Van grew to provide final mile delivery service, white glove services, customs clearance service, container freight station, Import management service, transload service and more. As we provided these services, clients would often ask for help arranging interstate transportation of these shipments. This lead us to form logistics services for both LTL and FTL.
AVi supports many Air Van, Inc. originated shipments as well as many domestic and international shipments for their own direct clients. AVi takes pride In keeping with the same company philosophies of providing the finest customer service, and constant proactive communication of shipment details to our clients at every opportunity. By leveraging our strong nationwide relationship carrier base, the steady, consistent and transparent communication provides confidence that when AVi has your freight, your shipment is in good hands.
