Tanner Teaches Golf
PGA Teaching Professional simplifying the game we all LOVE!
When you warm up, whether it be before a round or before a practice session, start small and work your way up through the bag. Wedges help you keep your swing controlled and find success in ball striking to build your confidence. Irons will continue to lose you up. Then you’re ready to let them rip with your woods and driver!
Pro tip: you need 10-20 shots before your body starts to warm up. SO don’t read too much into the first several shots. They are strictly to get your body moving!
Your POSTURE is a huge aspect of your set up. It helps you:
1- Maintain Balance
2- Use Your BODY Effectively
3- Get The Club To The Ground
Without the PROPER POSTURE, it’s difficult to pull off good shots consistently!

A 6’3” lesson yesterday was STRUGGLING to make solid contact. He’d hit one perfect, then one thin, then one fat and so on. After inspecting his clubs we figured out they were too short for him. After going through a quick fitting process, we learned he needed 1/2” LONGER than standard.
A 1/2” doesn’t seem like a lot, but it is on a golf club! For this student, it was the difference between his clubs working for him and his clubs fighting him!
