In this case a new OEM Key was the best option since an aftermarket key was not available. This is another instance where other shops had told the customer that they couldn’t help them but we try never to turn away any automotive key programming job, not matter how difficult it is. We had an interesting interaction with a customer yesterday. They brought in their 2025 GMC Sierra 1500 truck. They said “I’ve been told that only the dealership can program a new key to my truck, is that true?” We gladly told the customer that we have the ability to program keys most every vehicle even up to the current year model, and that we would be happy to program a key to their truck. The customer hired us on the stop and we greatfully took care of their need. As we were settling up the customer said “my significant other drives a 2024 RAV4, can you program a key for their vehicle?” We said absolutely we can. The customer smiled and said “we will see you next week”. The purpose of this post is to let you know, if you need a new key for your vehicle, even if it is a brand new vehicle, the dealership isn’t your only choice.
