It's been a busy month for the SPS team! Lexi, Wendi, and Aftan recently facilitated a full-day strategic planning session with VOA Alaska's leadership team. VOA Alaska provides behavioral health services to youth and families across the state, and we've had the privilege of supporting them as they refine their mission and chart their path forward for the next five years. The dedication and vision of the VOA Alaska team was inspiring to witness, and we're honored to walk alongside them as they strengthen their organization to better serve Alaska's communities.

This month, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) published the 2023/2024 Sexual Violence Data Brieffrom the National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey (NISVS) β€” shedding light on the prevalence of sexual violence across the United States.

πŸ”Ž Key takeaways include:
β€’ Nearly half of U.S. women have experienced some form of contact sexual violence in their lifetime.
β€’ Over 1 in 3 women report unwanted sexual contact.
β€’ Technology-facilitated sexual violence and verbal harassment are also widespread.
β€’ More than 1 in 6 men have experienced contact sexual violence.
This brief provides national and state-level data, helping communities, policymakers, and advocates better understand the scope of sexual violence and strengthen prevention and response efforts.

🧠 Why it matters: Data like these are essential for creating effective public health strategies to prevent sexual violence before it happens and support survivors.
