As we continue sharing stories from across Southeast Alaska, today we’re featuring Deborah Aanutein Head — basketweaver, educator, and culture bearer from Craig on Prince of Wales Island.
For more than three decades, Deborah has taught weaving as a way of passing on Lingít knowledge, values, and traditions to future generations. Through every basket, she teaches respect and the deep connection between culture and the land. Swipe through to read more.
