Serving Alaska House District 15

06/09/2026

LARGER THAN LIFE:

Today we recognize Don Young Day and honor the life and legacy of Congressman Don Young, the longest-serving Republican in the history of the United States House of Representatives.

For nearly five decades, Congressman Young fought for Alaska's infrastructure, military presence, resource development, aviation industry, and rural communities. His impact can still be seen across the state today through projects, policies, and opportunities he helped secure for future generations.

No matter where Alaskans stood politically, there is no denying the lasting mark Don Young left on Alaska and the nation.

D-DAY’S 82ND ANNIVERSARY: Today, we pause to remember the courage, sacrifice, and service of the Allied troops who landed on the beaches of Normandy on D-Day, June 6, 1944. Their bravery helped change the course of history and secured a future of freedom for generations to come. Without the sacrifice of thousands on that day, the world may well be a very different place.

We honor the heroes of that day, and we remain grateful for all who have worn the uniform in defense of our nation.

Opinion: The North Slope is back in the spotlight 06/01/2026

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The ADN published my opinion piece touting how Alaska’s North Slope is back in the spotlight. Recently, Alaska has been in international headlines, including an article from the Financial Times, who published a quote from Bill Armstrong of Armstrong Oil and Gas calling Alaska “the world’s hottest play”.

Alaska has a bright future in oil and gas development and others are taking notice.

Opinion: The North Slope is back in the spotlight New oil projects and national security concerns are reminding policymakers why Alaska still matters to America’s energy future.

STANDING TALL: Alaska has one of the strongest and largest military communities in the country, with service-members stationed across the state playing a vital role in national defense and Arctic security.

Military Appreciation Month is an opportunity to recognize not only those currently serving, but also the veterans and military families who sacrifice alongside them.

Thank you to the men and women in uniform whose dedication helps keep our country safe
every single day.

Today we honor the brave Americans who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.
Memorial Day is more than the unofficial start of summer it is a solemn reminder of the cost of freedom and the courage of those who gave everything to protect it.
Alaska is home to a strong military community and generations of servicemembers who have
answered the call to serve. Across our state, families carry on the legacy of loved ones who
never came home.
As we gather with family and friends this weekend, we also remember the fallen and reflect on
the sacrifices that made our freedoms possible.

GASLINE SPECIAL SESSION BEGINS TOMORROW:
Regular session will adjourn tonight. A special session has been called by Governor Dunleavy to focus solely on a gasline bill needed to make the project financeable. So, tomorrow we will return in a gasline special session to continue work on House Bill 381, the gasline bill.

The gasline is single-handedly the most significant job creation project in Alaska’s future and the time is now. It will ensure long term affordable gas for our homes, schools and businesses for generations to come and create 10,000 good paying jobs.

I remain committed to working tirelessly to get it across the finish line.

ENERGY SECURITY STARTS IN ALASKA: At a time of growing uncertainty in global energy markets, Alaska continues to play a critical role in America’s energy future.

From the North Slope to the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System, Alaska’s energy infrastructure supports jobs, strengthens domestic production, and reinforces our national security.

This article also highlights the important role Alaska Native Corporations play in that broader system. Through the SBA 8(a) program, ANCs help drive investment, create jobs, and reinvest resources back into communities across our state.

As major projects like Pikka and Willow move forward, maintaining a stable and competitive environment for development remains essential. Alaska’s energy future depends on strong infrastructure, long-term investment, and policies that recognize the unique role our state plays in powering the nation.

Big News from Santos Pikka Project on the North Slope! The field is projected to reach 80,000 barrels a day in production later this year, nearly 20% of Alaska’s current production!

ARMED FORCES DAY: Today we recognize the men and women serving in every branch of the United States Armed Forces who continue to defend our country at home and abroad.

From Alaska’s military families to those currently serving around the world, their commitment, sacrifice, and readiness help protect the freedoms we often take for granted.

Alaska plays a major role in our nation’s defense, and we’re proud of the service members, veterans, and families who strengthen our communities every day.

Thank you to all who serve, and to the families who serve alongside them. 🇺🇸
