Great info from one of my local Fairy friends 🧚‍♀️

Just a friendly public service announcement from a local Fairy Hair professional:

There are a lot of people out there that would love to take your money and not give you the best service possible. The fairies that take pride in their work and have been doing it for a while know this, but the ones that just jumped on the bandwagon for “easy/quick income” do not. So, I want to share some things you should know when you look to get your sparkle on.

🧚‍♀️ Fairy hair is attached to your natural hair. It should be attached to strong pieces of hair and it should last at least a week (unless there is a technical difficulty like a learning curve with brushing is involved). I always tell my clients two weeks to a few months. It will fall out when the natural hair it is attached to falls out. So, if you have it done and it falls out, there better be a hair or two attached.

🧚‍♀️ NEVER allow a “fairy” to use crimp beads to attach your fairy hair. It causes breakage and it will be attached to much more than a hair or two which means you could have a large chunk of broken hair or missing hair when it comes out.

🧚‍♀️ NEVER allow a “fairy” to secure your fairy hair with any type of glue.

🧚‍♀️ Once your fairy hair is attached, you should not feel large knots in your hair. You might feel where it attached to your hair, but it should not feel like a large knot.

🧚‍♀️ Always ask if the fairy hair they are using is heat & chemical resistant. NOT because they read a label on a website that states that it is, but because they have tested their products. Good products will be able to be colored, bleached, straightened or curled, keratin treated, etc with no damage.

🧚‍♀️ Quality Fairy Hair will blend with your natural hair and flow like it does.

🧚‍♀️ Quality Fairy Hair will blend and take the shape in our curly haired friend’s hair. It will not make a spiral with spiral curls, but once it is wet and scrunched or washed within curly hair, it will blend well with it and not remain stick straight.

Now get out there and get your summer sparkle on! Enjoy! 🥰

Yes! Not everyone that "says" they can do Fairy Hair, can actually do Fairy Hair. Using an extension bead, glue or hand knotting it multiple times on a chunk of hair, is NOT the proper way to tie in Fairy Hair. Ask "How do you apply Fairy Hair?" And if they mention any of these methods, run far, far away!! And then call me or one of my Fairy Hair friends like Barb from Kissed By A Pixie: Glittering Fairy Hair

The TikTok Influencers and Amazon have made THIS how “everyone can have fairy hair.” This is why I always tell my customers….”even if you don’t come see me for your fairy hair, ask how they attach it before you sit down.” And like every profession, not everyone knows how to tie fairy hair properly. Stick with the Pros you know. 🧚‍♀️🧚‍♀️

Fun Fact! Did you know that fairy hair/hair tinsel was originally made and still used for fly fishing?? I still have no idea who the first person was who decided to tie it into their hair. I can only imagine that it was the bored wife of a fisherman that thought to herself, "That would look really fantstic in my hair" and I thank her for that ✨️✨️
And though many advertise that their fairy hair is made of silk, it isn't. Silk is not heat resistant and would not beable to withstand the heat of a blow dryer. Fairy hair is actually made of Mylar. Which is a polyester blend of metallic plastic. And yes, it is very much the same as the Christmas tree tinsel, yet MUCH better. 🧚‍♀️🧚‍♀️🧚‍♀️

Bubble braids also look great on motorcycle helmets. I tested these out today and everyone LOVED them ❤️
