Birdfingers is the solo songwriting project of , a multi-instrumentalist from Kalamazoo. His steady baritone weaves comfortably through folk meditations on family life, psychedelic country songs about water, and the occasional politically-driven guitar outburst. Young's latest album, Birdfingers III, was independently released in August 2023, more than ten years after its predecessors (Birdfingers & Birdfingers II). In addition to his solo work, Young regularly collaborates with other local artists, teaches private lessons, and tunes pianos.
