There are so many great sunset spots in Glacier National Park, and this might be my favorite. Bowman Lake in the North Fork area of Glacier is spectacular!

A few days ago, I made it to Cracker Lake in the Many Glacier section of Glacier National Park. It's a 13 mile round trip hike with 1,978 feet of elevation gain. Although it's long (if youre old like me), the views coming and going are so expansive and constant, making it enjoyable both ways, the whole way.
Do you know how Cracker Lake got its name? It used to be called "Blue Lake", but in 1897, two copper miners scouting the area identified the Lake as "where we left our crackers" after lunch. Theres a bit more to it than that, but literally cheese and crackers gave Blue Lake its new name. I didn't make it to the campsites at the lake as time was limited, but there are big steel pieces of machinery at the end along the shoreline that cover where the mining hole once was well over 100 years ago.
