Meet Jake, a Marine Corps Veteran and one of the newest residents at the VCP of Longmont Village.
After spending ten months unhoused, Jake recently moved into a tiny home that just happened to be his lucky number and just happened to be painted his favorite color—blue.
While we love these happy coincidences, much of the real impact comes from the intentionality and attention to detail that goes into every transitional tiny home. From trauma-informed design to a fully stocked kitchen, Veterans have everything they need to support themselves with dignity during their stay with us. And whenever possible, we like to add a few personal touches, too.
When Jake first stepped into his new home last month, the sense of safety and security was overwhelming at first.
Then he spotted one of those personal touches in his refrigerator.
"I was in the middle of crying," Jake said, "and then I spotted the case of Mountain Dew and was like, 'Okay, I can laugh now.'"
We are honored to be a part of Jake’s story and look forward to sharing his journey toward greater stability, well-being, and independence.
Thank you for supporting Jake and Veterans like him.
Welcome home, Jake.
