Neighbors are reporting great activity of Bumblebees. They are vital to ecosystems and agriculture because they are highly efficient pollinators. They sustain native plant diversity, which supports wildlife, and boost the yields of key agricultural crops like tomatoes, peppers, and berries. Thank you to all neighbors that are keeping a great garden for the pollinators in the Westside...the Bestside!

City buildings will be closed on June 19th in observance of Juneteenth.
Juneteenth (a blend of "June" and "nineteenth") is a federal holiday that commemorates the effective end of slavery in the United States. It marks June 19, 1865, when Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, to announce that the Civil War had ended and that all enslaved people were free.
