Above my desk are two simple pieces of paper.

One says TRUTH.
One says FEELINGS.

Both matter. God gave us feelings, and feelings are real. But feelings are not always truthful.

Jeremiah 17:9-10 reminds us that our hearts can sometimes deceive us. When we stay too long in our feelings, we can begin believing things that were never true in the first place.

The enemy loves to whisper:

* “You’re not enough.”
* “Nobody cares.”
* “You’ve failed too many times.”
* “You’re too old.”
* “You’ll never recover from this.”
* “Everyone else has it figured out but you.”

But God’s truth says:

* You are fearfully and wonderfully made.
* You are loved with an everlasting love.
* His grace is sufficient for you.
* He who began a good work in you will carry it to completion.
* There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
* You are chosen, redeemed, and called by name.

When your feelings and God’s truth disagree, trust God’s truth.

So today, if you find yourself getting buried in your feelings, grab two pieces of paper.

Write TRUTH on one.
Write FEELINGS on the other.

Then ask yourself:

“What am I feeling?”

And then:

“What does God say?”

Replace the lie with truth every single time.

Your feelings may speak loudly.
But God’s truth speaks eternally.
