How many of you think this is appropriate play?

Play? Bulllying? Mixed signals

Your sweet puppy suddenly turns into a biting, growling little dinosaur.

And you think…

Is this aggressive puppy biting?
Do I need aggressive puppy training already?

Take a breath.

All sweet puppies go through a dinosaur phase.

They become mouthy.
Relentless.
Obnoxious.

And it’s normal.

Puppies have needle-sharp teeth for a reason. Very little pressure is needed to cause discomfort, which actually teaches them bite inhibition.

Around 4 months, when they start losing baby teeth, chewing often increases even more as adult teeth set into the jaw.

That said…

True aggression in puppies is rare. But it can happen.

The difference is in the body.

Loose and bouncy? Likely developmental.
Stiff posture, hard staring, escalating tension? That’s when you seek support.
