The Perch is a burrito shop and bar built from drywall dust and stubbornness. Owls are watching. More to come. šŸ¦‰šŸŒÆšŸ»

We wanted to thank everyone for their support in the parade! We have a small team and to split them between the parade, cooking at our first off-site food tent, and running the restaurant was no easy task so we appreciate the patience most of our customers had while we figure things out and the understanding that 90% of our staff was hired in May/June and this was our first really busy day. We have a TON of notes and will begin implementing them immediately. For those that didn't have patience, we apologize and hope you will try us again in the future. Last thing, for those that thought the chipotle chicken was too spicy, that is absolutely on us. We ran out quicker than we thought and apparently my 2's look like 3's when it comes to number of chili's. But we are typing and printing them for our recipe book so it returns to its regular level of spice. Again, we thank everyone who supported us in the parade, it really means a lot! Happy 250th!

A lot to share, grab a seat.

Big news: starting next week, we’re running poker on both Mondays AND Wednesdays starting around 6pm. And with that change comes a bigger one… The Perch will now be open 7 days a week, noon to 1am. Every day. No guessing, no checking Instagram to see if we’re open. If it’s afternoon, come on by.

We’ve heard loud and clear that people never know when we’re open, and that’s on us. We’ve been adjusting hours constantly trying to manage payroll through slow stretches, and we lost a lot of our staff when the college crowd left for the summer. But we’re replenished now, and we made the decision that consistency matters more than saving a few hours of payroll. You deserve to be able to count on us.

One small note on hours: items that require rice and beans like burritos and bowls, will stop being available after 8pm. We want everything to be as fresh as possible and we don't want to put in the things that take awhile to cook in a steam tray all night. But tacos, quesadillas, and everything else? All night.

Now for the harder part, because we believe in being straight with you.

May was brutal. The sprinkler failure that forced us to close for over a week cost us roughly $30,000 in lost revenue and inventory, and we have not been able to make any headway with the insurance company. They say that they are waiting on a response from the city which could take up to 30 days. We’re likely heading toward a legal route, which is both time-consuming and expensive. On top of that, when power was restored we lost a freezer, a refrigerated prep table, and a reach-in fridge. We did save our main bar fridge, though we ended up replacing it anyway just to be safe… another roughly $10,000 out of pocket. We’re not sure if the two events are related, but either way, it’s been a heavy few months when you include us shutting down for the CO2 leak (which we are still waiting on a response from the company on that) and a bad breaker which caused us to close right after the Cinco de Mayo party (and subsequently got destroyed by the sprinkler right after we spent $1,000 to get a new one installed).

We’re sharing this not to complain, but because this community has supported us and you deserve to know what’s been going on behind the scenes.

On to the good stuff, and there’s a lot of it.

The menu is growing. Nothing you love is going away, we’re expanding. Our Buffalo Soldier quesadilla will also be available as a burrito and a taco. We’ve finished out our appetizer section, all the new items are made fresh in house. Bowls and burritos are now available in lettuce wrap form. And we’re expanding our build-your-own options so that nearly any ingredient can go on any item.

We recently found a vegan cheese that, coming from a non-vegan, is actually really good. It costs about five times what our regular cheese does, but it’s a great option for anyone who doesn’t or can’t eat dairy.

We have a new red habanero hot sauce joining our mango habanero (which isn’t going anywhere). We also have a hotter salsa available on request, same base just with some extra heat.

A completely new summer drink menu is here, and we will post the full updated menu as soon as it’s ready.

And coming very soon: hard shell tacos, plus we’re working on adding shrimp and ahi tuna tacos and burritos to the menu.

We’re marching in the Fourth of July parade and we couldn’t be more excited.

We’ve gotten Cindy’s Coca-Cola O.K. Fairbanks go-kart up and running and we are busy decorating it for the big day. We are thrilled to bring a little piece of Keene’s history back out for everyone to see. And we won’t just be rolling through… we’ll have tacos for everyone to try after. Come find us on the route!

Industry Sundays, hosted by our newest bartender Alex aka Scoobs.

If you work in the industry, we see you. We know how hard the life is, and we want to show our appreciation. Every Sunday, anyone who works in the restaurant or bar industry gets 20% off. Come decompress with people who get it.

A few reminders:

We are all ages until 8pm (maybe later during the summer as long as we're not busy). Between 8 and 9 we transition to 21+. For the younger crowd, we’ve got a pool table, video games, board games, card games, and TVs, plenty to keep everyone entertained.

Thursdays, kids eat free (stop by for details).

We also genuinely believe we have some of the most affordable prices around, and some of the best food in town. I grew up in California, and I’ll tell you… the best tacos I ever had came from tiny trucks on the side of the road with no sign. Great food doesn’t need a fancy room. It needs good ingredients and people who care. We have both.

If you haven’t been in recently, we’d love to see you!
