It’s Tuesday! Yes, we’re closed today (sorry for the tease). We wanted to let y’all know we are alive (a little tired) but well!

It’s been a little while since we’ve posted about our wonderful and hard-working staff! Trust us when we say this, we are SO grateful for our amazing Crew. They’ve been hustling and bustling like it’s Mid-July since before Easter!
We know they are feeling it but hope they are getting a little rest today. Back at it tomorrow!

Let’s get to know Brandy...

Tell us about Brandy?
“I moved to the outer banks almost 30 years ago from my home town Knotts Island. I’m lucky to have a pretty cool family and a ton of awesome friends to spend my spare time with. I love camping, hiking, paddle boarding, all things roller derby and pretty much any crazy new and adventurous bright ideas!”

What is your favorite meal at SB?
“My favorite might have to be the shrimp n grits!! Also any of the salads ( the grilled shrimp & crab cakes are so good!! ) oh and every soup!! Honestly it’s hard to pick!”

Why do you like working at SB?
“My son Nohea has worked at the salt box for the past 7 years and I’ve seen the awesome family style dynamics this restaurant has and I wanted to be a part of it. ( Nohea took only a little convincing, but eventually put in a good word for me and here I am😜). In addition to the crew being really fun, Amanda & Randolph make us all feel valued, appreciated and at home! Good vibes all the way! I also love trying and learning about all the amazing foods!! That’s a fun perk for sure!”

Brandy, as we said before, you are absolutely adorable. You bring so much light to SB! We appreciate your ideas and suggestions to help us improve, you make as laugh all day long, your positive attitude and hospitality is top notch! Thank you for all that you do for SB. You may have only been with us a few months, but it is like we’ve known you for much longer. You have quickly won the hearts of so many of our customers and of course, your coworkers! 💕

Graduate making moves!

Hello everyone! It’s another chilly but beautiful day here on the Outer Banks. It’s Easter weekend!

We are OPEN lunch & dinner today, tomorrow and brunch on Sunday. Live music tonight with Kim Kalman 6-9pm. Devin is playing tomorrow (Saturday) 6-9pm and Easter Sunday 10am-2pm. We can’t wait!

Say hello to Nohea! (Pronounced “No-Hey-Ah but most say “No-ah”) Chefs like to say “No-hey-ah-haha” 😆

We asked Nohea a few questions-

Tell us some interesting facts on Nohea?
“I am 21 years old and grew up on Outer Banks. I have a beautiful daughter and she just turned 1yrs. old. I love to surf. I have been surfing since I was like 2 . I have traveled the world chasing the waves and have won over 30+ awards. I can’t wait to teach my daughter to surf!”

What is your favorite thing you have eaten at SB?
“It would have to be the fried pork chop! 😅 I also love the nacho pokè.”

Why do you like working at SB?
“I have been working at The SaltBox for 7 years now (since I was 14) and everyone that works here is basically family to me now. It doesn’t even feel like work half the time because I’m surrounded by such good people. The amazing food is just a little bonus!”

Nohea, we have watched you grow from a shy little kid to a clever young man (who is still at times shy). We appreciate everything you have done for SB. The million dirty dishes, two million salads, all the cleaning and organizing projects, learning to cook and working your way up the line (and at times running the show)...you have done it all! Thank you for being a BIG part of our SB family!
