We had a solid turnout (for this time of year) at last Sunday's LKGA scramble. It included several new members (Rick Flores, Rob Frink and Tina BigBee).
As in last month, the top three teams rose to the top! Again, all three were within one stroke of one another. The team of Levering, Wright, Hungate and Holt took top honors with a net 59.60.
Also shown is Matt Babich who's team came in second, won several hole prizes and walked away with the 50/50 raffle! Matt, you need to play more often!

Today was another great Lower Keys Golf Association scramble event. In what proved to be a tight competition the team of Rother, Rother and Robbins finished with the lowest gross score (65) and the team of Holtcamp, Babich, Burson and Kitching finished with the lowest net score (60.35). The top three gross score teams ended up within less than 1.5 strokes and half the field was within 3.0 strokes.
The new collection of golf-related raffle prizes makes staying around even more fun! Laser range finders, golf travel bags and other assorted gift will be available to win at our next scramble event on April 13th.
We hope to see you next month!!

The Lower Keys Golf Association had our Annual Meeting yesterday (February 9th) after our scramble event.
Highlights include we have 167 paid members (four added since the meeting), the LKGA is financially sound and we elected for Board members to serve three year terms. Returning to the Board are Jack Eaton, Mike Feltman, Art Holleman and Chuck Weitzel.
This year, as in the past, we celebrated the accomplishments of Key West High School golf team members and others. This year's KWHS golf team winners are as follows:
Ed Rochelle Scholarship Award ($1000): Andrew Bassett
This year we decided to add a second $1000 scholarship to a deserving KWHS graduating female golfer and that went to Monica Buena.
Kitty Clements Sportswomen Award (a plaque and honorarium): Monica Buena
Michael Conroy Sportsman Award (a plaque and honorarium): Payton Zubieta
Chuck Gilmore Most Improved Golfer Award (a plaque and honorarium): Lexi Finigan
The picture of all the winners with Robert Barrios is below.
In addition to the high school team awards, we honored Steve Hungate with the Jerry Rodda Memorial Award for taking over the LKGA event and raffle prize coordination.
Congratulations KWHS golf team winners and their families and Steve Hungate! A big thank you for showing up and help to celebrate the award winners!
