DAYS 28-30 LAKE HAVASU CITY AZ to LAS VEGAS NV

After LHC it was time to move onto to Las Vegas! Hey, a 128 mile day is a gift! No waking up at the crack of dawn. No rush to beat sunset. It was another beautiful stretch of road. I love seeing the contrast of the distant snow capped mountains and the rosy browns of the closer peaks against the big blue sky. There wasn’t a lot of traffic along Route 95 so I was able to slow down and take it all in. As I got closer to Henderson I saw miles and miles of solar arrays and the density of population and development grew and grew until it blended into the Las Vegas skyline. I could see the Stratosphere from 20 miles away!

I was more than a little intimidated to drive into this crazy city. I had received a tip that the Oasis was the best of the two RV Parks closest to the strip, the other one being Circus Circus which is right on the strip. I had been warned off of Circus Circus because of “the neighborhood” and security concerns. I remember staying in the hotel about 20 years ago and it was pretty dated then, but otherwise it was ok. I had my doubts, but I was here to visit my son, Taj, who lives just 4 miles from CC compared to the Oasis which is 12 miles away. It just made sense to be closer for Ubering or 🚖 around town, so I took a chance at CC and am not disappointed!

It is clean and as secure as any RV park in a city. It’s fully fenced and gated and the check-in desk and lobby is as nice as any decent hotel. It offers bathhouses, full hookups, a laundry, and a nice little bark park for the Skipster. AND it’s a short walk to the casino! At $66/night it’s a great value and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again!

Taj and I have had a great time so far. It had been way too long since our last visit. We managed to hit 3 jackpots on the penny slots which paid for dinner at the CC Buffet on my first night and dinner at THE STILL at the Mirage, last night. And we still have some mad money 💰 left to play with!

Last night went to the Mirage to see the Cirque de Soleil Beatles show, “LOVE”. This is my 7th or 8th Cirque show and this one ranks at the top. It was spectacular! As always, the special effects were incredible. I couldn’t stop myself from singing along with every song! The performers were flying through the air in every direction. If you come to Las Vegas and love the Beatles, it’s a must see! Sorry, but photography is not allowed during the show. You’ll just have to take my word for it or come see it for yourself!
