Steph Of All Trades

A Double crested Cormorant (black bird) it dives and swims under water to catch fish. Its wings are not fully water proof, allowing them to dive! These birds are often seen with wings out, as they have to dry them!
These birds were once threatened because of DDT but have made a huge comeback since DDT was banned.

Also shown is a great Egret! Almost hunted to extinction in the early 1900s, their feather looked pretty in womens hats, the National Audobon Society was actually forned in response to protect these birds!
