Okay, before the month is over, I’m squeezing in one more post for breast cancer awareness. Although, you’ll still hear about it from me throughout the year.
According to Elie Wiesel (human rights activist and author), “Whoever survives a test, whatever it may be, must tell the story. That is his duty.” So, I repeatedly tell my story, emphasizing the importance of being your own advocate. Speak up and be persistent when something doesn’t feel right. And, you are not alone. Breast cancer is not just something older women get. Young women and even men can get breast cancer and need to look out for the symptoms.
When I was 31, I felt a lump, went to three different doctors (because I persisted), and then got the call that changed my life.
My cancer was aggressive, but thankfully, it was caught early. I had surgery and chemo and lost my hair. Our kids were just 3 and 1 years old. We relied on the help of many family members and friends - for whom I’m extremely grateful.
Thanks to and for helping me share my story over the years. Watch the 2017 video here:
