United Youth Leadership for Community Transformation
OUR APPROACH
We believe that positive youth development requires a multidisciplinary approach. In the first term of our programming, youth undergo intensive skilling in one chosen vocational area. Term two continues with more advanced skilling in the same program, while incorporating basic business concepts, planning, team formation and guided business implementation.
In the same space, youth are supported with youth and women friendly health services focusing on sexual reproductive health and mental health. The end result is skilled, healthier and economically empowered young leaders
THE URBAN YOUTH RISING COMMUNITY CENTER
Our urban space is located in Mpererwe along Kawempe Ttula Road in Mugalu Zone. Here, our youth members are supported by a diverse team of near-peer, volunteer facilitators in 7 programs,

YOUTH RISING COMMUNITY CENTER MUKONO
U-Rise Health and Wellness Center
U-Rise Health and Wellness community Centre is a youth and women friendly service community clinic meant to provide access basic clinic care, to sexual reproductive and mental health services to the youth, women and the entire population in Mpumu – Salaama Village.
Arise café and Bakery
Arise Café and Bakery is a social enterprise program, which offers youth access to business education, life skills and applied baking and nutrition skills. Through education and vocational training, youth learn to source local, nutritious ingredients to produce and sell affordable baked good in their community. The project profits from the sale and distribution of the baked goods produced by its trainees and staff over the course of the program, while the youth participants invest in a reasonable training fee and the appropriate bakery start-up costs. Once their own bakery is in business, all profits belong to the youth.
Women Rising Group
This is a program which trains women and girls from Salaama village and surrounding areas how to make baskets, wall and floor artifacts. This group then participates in processing local material to make these products that are put on a global market to make profits and improve their livelihoods.
Vision 2025
Youth Rising hopes to setup a premier vocational institute implementing its unique model in Salaama village on a much larger scale by 2025 including learning blocks, a student residential suite, premier health clinic facility and offices.

COHORT ENTRY POINT
We accept new youth members twice annually in January and May. Each cohort is required to complete two terms (6 months) of study in order to graduate. Term one involves intensive skilling in one chosen program area. while incorporating basic business concepts and planning. Finally, term two consists of team formation and guided business implementation with more advanced skilling.
