A SAD REMINDER
The drowning today of twin five-year-old girls at another short term rental community in Kissimmee is a sad reminder how quickly holiday can turn to tragedy.

Safety features are only effective if people practice/use them. Adhering to the safety protocols may seem annoying or excessive, but they are in place for a reason.

Here are a few reminders:
1. The pool fence must remain up at all times, and the gate on the pool fence latched when not in use.
2. Children must never be left unsupervised in the pool NOR in the lanai.
3. All doors leading onto the lanai must be locked. (Confirm they are). The double locks are high on the doors to ensure small children cannot reach them.
4. Your access door to the lanai (located off the kitchen nook) is alarmed. Operational instructions can be found in the binder in the junk drawer and also here in the first comment. It is illegal to disconnect the pool door alarm. I have an extra battery in the junk drawer if you require it. If the alarm is not operating correctly, notify me and/or management company immediately.
5. Exterior lanai screen doors must be securely closed (though not locked) at all times to prevent others from wandering into the lanai. (The door handles are high on these doors to prevent young children from being able to reach them.)
6. Reference the pool depth markers to set restrictions for your children
7. Use safety handles to assist entering and exiting the pool and spa
8. No running on the pool deck and no standing or jumping from the spa spill ledge
9. Do not obstruct your ( or others’) site line of the pool by putting clothes on the pool fence. Use the drying tree or the drying rack in the garage. People in the pool must be visible at all times.
10. Utilize the watcher lanyards that are located in the kitchen junk drawer. Take turns being 💯percent committed to supervision.
11. For liability reasons, we do not provide floaties or life vests for our guests.

Many families who come to Florida to holiday do not have pools at home. Be cognizant of your new environment. Water is also a magnet for little kids and it only takes a few seconds for the worst possible thing to happen.

NOTE: please contact me immediately if you notice there is any lapse or malfunction in pool safety features during your stay.

“Portraits of Courage: A Commander in Chief’s Tribute to America’s Warriors,” is an exhibit by former U.S. President George W. Bush.

“The collection consists of more than 60 oil portraits of American service members and veterans who served after the September 11, 2001 attacks. President Bush painted each portrait himself after leaving office and getting to know many of the veterans personally through his work with the George W. Bush Institute.

Disney and the George W. Bush Institute describe the exhibit as a tribute to the sacrifices, resilience, and continuing contributions of American veterans and military families.

The exhibit originally opened on June 9, 2024, and Disney has extended it through the 2026 Fourth of July holiday period as part of the nation’s 250th anniversary celebrations. “
