City of Kyle Parks and Recreation Department
During my last State of the City speech, I told the story of Kyle's longest operating business. It was called the Bon Ton, and its founder, Lex Word, contributed to the city in many ways over the years. Link to the entire address in the comments. Special thanks to the many sources I used when compiling this story. In particular, the news archives and photo collection of The Hays Free Press were instrumental in helping me gather and share this story.

Kyle has a fascinating history.
On October 18, come to City Fest where I will give my eighth and final State of the City address to the community as mayor. I'm going to spend much of my time telling stories and showing pictures from the vaults of Kyle history, including one story from 1911 that is almost too incredible to believe.
This event is free and 100% kid friendly with fireworks to follow! Details in the comments.
