As part of the 2026 Summer Career Exploration experience, students in the Accelerated Language Summer Program at Lehman High School participated in conversations and discussions with local community members and professionals who shared their personal and career journeys as bilingual individuals. Speakers highlighted how being bilingual and biliterate has opened doors to educational opportunities, career pathways, and personal growth, inspiring students to recognize the value of their multilingual skills.

A consistent message throughout the conversations was: “Identify your goals, follow your dreams, and don’t let anyone or anything get in your way. It’s up to you to make your dreams come true—with the support of those who truly love and care for you.” Students were encouraged to continue developing both English and their home languages while valuing their multilingual abilities.

These meaningful interactions helped students gain confidence, feel inspired, and better understand how their language skills can support their future goals and success.

Students in both the Secondary Language Acceleration Program and the Pre-K/Kindergarten Emergent Bilingual Program were delighted by a visit from Canines Who Care, including the always-popular Rowdy and Zelda. These special canine visitors never disappoint, bringing comfort, excitement, and plenty of smiles to students, teachers, and staff. Their visits continue to be a cherished experience that brightens everyone's day.
