Thank you, Johnny G, for your support of Buda’s Johnson High School and its marching band program.

Marching band is actually where Jennifer and I met years ago, so this one means a little extra to us. What started with rehearsals, football games, competitions, and long bus rides turned into a lifetime of memories, a family, and a life together.

Programs like this do more than teach music. They build friendships, discipline, confidence, and community. We’re grateful to everyone who helps keep these opportunities alive for the next generation.

If you’re able, please consider supporting the band, attending an event, sharing their fundraiser, or simply helping spread the word. Every bit of support helps these students continue doing what they love.

I hope to see everyone this evening at casa Maria’s in kyle. One more chance to see and talk to the run off candidates.

Jennifer and I were honored to spend time at “A day at the Derby” supporting efforts to raise funds for pediatric cancer research.

Events like this are a reminder of what can happen when a community comes together with purpose.

I didn’t get photos with everyone, but I wanted to share a few moments from a meaningful day.

Reminder - The Tejano Democrats will be hosting a Get to Know the Candidates event for those running for the Hays CISD Board. Take the time to listen, ask questions, and stay engaged.

The Hays CISD layoffs and budget cuts didn’t happen overnight. The warning signs have been there for years.

At the state level, policies pushed by Governor Greg Abbott have added real pressure on public school funding.

At the local level, financial oversight and long term planning play a critical role. Calling a budget “balanced” while relying on reserves is not sustainable financial management. The situation we are seeing now, over 100 staff affected, reduced stipends, and larger class sizes, reflects the impact of those challenges.

At this crucial time in district history, making informed decisions at the voting booth is paramount. Strong financial experience and leadership moving forward is not optional, it is necessary.
