Big things are happening in the Odessa Subarea. đź’§
Last month, the East Columbia Basin Irrigation District celebrated a major milestone with the groundbreaking of the EL 80.6 delivery system—the fourth system being built as part of the Odessa Groundwater Replacement Program.
When complete, EL 80.6 will deliver Columbia Basin Project surface water to 5,862 acres currently irrigated by deep wells, helping protect the declining aquifer while providing a more reliable water supply for local farms.
With two delivery systems now complete, two under construction, and several more in design, the Odessa Groundwater Replacement Program continues to build momentum toward a more sustainable future for agriculture in the Columbia Basin.
This progress is possible because of years of partnership and investment by irrigation districts, landowners, state and federal agencies, and conservation partners—all working together to secure water for future generations.
