Dynamic Duo Downsizing

St. Louis County's Department of Public Health’s Waste and Recycling Program has several electronics recycling events coming up in Des Peres, Florissant, Glendale, St. John, Manchester, Spanish Lake, Ballwin, and more. Dates are soon through June.
♻️ What you can bring:
Any electronic item with a cord or battery. All personal data on computers and devices will be securely destroyed.
🚫 Not accepted: Smoke detectors, disposable batteries, or light bulbs.
✅Most items are free to recycle! Fees apply if you bring more than two of the listed items or if you are not a St. Louis County resident. Fee Schedule:
• CRT TV 27" or larger: $30
• CRT TV/Monitor 26": $30
• Console/Projection TV: $50
• Flat Screen TV (LED/LCD/Plasma): $10
• Freon-containing items: $20
• Printers, copiers, scanners, fax machines: $5
• All other items recycled at no charge.

Shredded paper is not accepted in city recycling.

Shredded paper (loose or in any kind of bag) should not be put in recycling dumpsters or recycling rollcarts. Shredded paper is too small and falls through sorting machinery.

Saint Louis City Recycles will be hosting an electronics recycling and secure document destruction event on March 28 from 8 - 11 am at 1640 S Kingshighway. City residents, with ID, can bring up to 2 banker’s boxes with documents to be securely transported, shredded and recycled.

Some UPS stores offer shredding services for a fee. Your bank or credit union may also offer shredding opportunities.

It's America Recycles Day - and here are the basics for the St. Louis area. The most important things? #1 Just do it, everyday! #2 Keep PLASTIC BAGS out of comingled collection points (take them to the dedicated bin at many stores).

We were happy to help Barb pack and divest her stuff from a 3-bedroom home she'd lived in for 35 years, and prepared her things to move into a 2 br apartment with 1/4 the space. Most importantly: she's happy too! ("Saving her life" is a bit dramatic, but we did work hard and fast for her!)
