My ❤️favorite thing about the field of speech therapy is being able to get to know people who have different backgrounds and interests. I love being able to hear each person's interests and stories! 🗣

✨Clinician Spotlight Time! ✨
Hi everyone! 👋🏻
My name is Maria Mengis.
🏠I’m from Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Some of my favorite things to do are hiking🥾, traveling✈️, reading 📖, and watching soccer games 👀⚽️.
My favorite part about speech therapy 💬 is building relationships with my clients 👥and helping them achieve their goals ✅. I especially love the welcoming environment of our aphasia groups!
A fun fact about me is that I have swum 🏊♀️to Brazil🇧🇷…that story’s way too long for one post!
Thank you for letting me be a part of this amazing group :)

Do you experience this? 👇🏻
It is actually more common than you probably think!
😢 Do you cry easily?
🧑🏻⚕️ You may want to talk to a healthcare professional about PBA.
⚕️ Pseudobulbar affect (PBA) is a medical condition. It causes episodes of crying of laughing that may be unpredictable. Sometimes it is called emotional lability.
🧠 It is caused by damage to an area of the brain. Many stroke survivors have PBA.
