Spring Vale Cemetery

On this day in 1908, Ray Ewry, an athlete with Lafayette and Purdue University roots, won the London Olympic gold medal in the standing high jump event after leaping five feet two inches. Ray also won the gold medal in the standing long-jump during the London games.
