Many adults with ADHD, particularly those socialized as female or those with significant cognitive resources, become experts at masking.
What appears to be “high functioning” may actually be:
• Excessive effort
• Perfectionism
• Anxiety-driven compensation
• Chronic exhaustion
• Burnout
Masking allows clients to survive environments not built for them, but often at tremendous psychological cost. Functioning is not the same as thriving.

Symptoms exist on a spectrum, and individuals often develop highly personalized ways to compensate.
Understanding ADHD as a neurotype, not a character flaw, changes how we conceptualize treatment, accommodations, and therapeutic goals.
Talking about s*x in therapy shouldn’t feel uncomfortable, it should feel clinically informed.
Many therapists receive little formal training on navigating conversations about intimacy, s*xuality, and relationships, yet these topics show up regularly in session.
Our Neurodivergence: S*x live webinar provides practical guidance for having these conversations with confidence, compassion, and clinical competence💛

We’ve all had the client who is self-aware, engaged, and motivated, yet continues to struggle with burnout, missed deadlines, overwhelm, and daily functioning.
When cognitive restructuring, attachment work, or trauma interventions aren’t moving the needle, it may be time to widen the lens.
Adult ADHD often presents differently than the stereotypes many of us were taught. The clinical question may not be, “Why aren’t they trying harder?” but rather, “What neurodevelopmental factors have we overlooked?”
Sometimes the missing piece isn’t motivation, it’s executive functioning.
