A recent reclaimed rail door built from mainly alder, but there's some poplar and oak in there as well. The second photo shows the crazy grain of one of the boards and reminds me of van Gogh's Starry Night.

This is a recent mantle I built from a barn beam. The original beam was pulled from a barn in Indiana and weighed 380th lbs. As it was hung it was still ~300 lbs. I had to relic the freshly cut end, as it was going to be exposed. The beam was made of poplar and the bright green freshly cut end-grain stuck out like a sore thumb. I patterned the rough saw marks from end of the undisturbed beam as it came out of the barn using my Japanese pull saw, followed by dulling the fresh cuts with my hammer. To match the weathered color of the rest of the beam, I used a mix of walnut stain diluted with mineral spirits at a mix of 1:10, then lightly sanded the end after.
