This season AFP is partnering with the Eberle Board Governance Series to bring you top notch speakers and learning opportunities. Members may attend an expanded professional education session, 12:00 – 3:30 pm, 4X a year. Members may also stay for the Eberle Series that follows for the same price – getting more for your investment.

• November 5th – Creating a Development Plan and Case Statement for Support with Dave Sternberg. The Eberle Series will discuss Recruiting & Orienting New Board Members.

Opportunities From Purdue University Development Office:
“Donors expect more from nonprofit organizations than they used to – more opportunities for involvement, more accountability, more professionalism, and more evidence of results”, writes Barry McLeish author of Yours, Mine & Ours: Compelling Donor Experience. In meeting that expectation, technology can improve the way we connect with donors, colleagues, alumni, and students. For example with live streaming we can bring our donors into new laboratories, meet with Deans and Department Heads without travel, and offer real time involvement of activities and events. Video can be used in stewardship efforts and quickly capture in pictures the joy a gift can bring.

We are offering a two part Roundtable Discussion on using videos and live streaming to improve the donor experience.

On November 12 from 8:30 – 9:30: We will be providing an interactive demonstration of WebEx and Kaltura. This session will be an expanded campus user group meeting that will bring a number of different professional disciplines to the table. By combining numerous diverse user groups, the intent is to gain a broad appreciation of the many uses and capabilities of these tools.

On December 5 from 8:30 – 9:30: The theme of the Roundtable will be ‘how can we provide a more meaningful experience for our donors through technology’. We will share projects and outcomes using video, live streaming, and other tools. A number of colleges and units are already seeing positive results in creative uses of technology. The intention of this session is also to provide legal and ethical discussion and guidance on the use and boundaries of these tools as we move forward.
