💔 Remembering RJ Mitte (1992–2026) 💔

The disability community has lost a remarkable advocate, and the entertainment world has lost a talented actor far too soon.

RJ Mitte, best known for his portrayal of Walter White Jr. on the acclaimed television series Breaking Bad, passed away today at the age of 34.

Living with cerebral palsy himself, RJ brought authenticity to a character who helped bring disability representation into millions of homes. But his greatest impact extended far beyond the television screen.

RJ used his platform to advocate for disability rights, inclusion, accessibility, and authentic representation in Hollywood. He challenged stereotypes, encouraged opportunities for actors with disabilities, and reminded the world that a disability should never define someone's potential.

As someone who has spent years advocating for individuals with disabilities and sharing their stories through This Ability Podcast, I deeply appreciate the doors RJ helped open and the conversations he inspired.

His passing is heartbreaking, especially at such a young age. Yet his contributions to disability awareness and representation will continue to have an impact for years to come.

His work with United Cerebral Palsy, Shriners Children's, and the Mitte Foundation is also worth remembering. He did much more than portray a character with cerebral palsy; he actively worked to make the entertainment industry more inclusive.

My heartfelt condolences and prayers go out to his family, friends, and everyone whose life he touched.
