Help us join in congratulating and welcoming our Summer Extension Interns!

We are excited to welcome Alexis Funderburk and Carter Aucoin, who have been selected as interns with the Lafayette Extension Office through the LSU AgCenter. We are thrilled to have them as part of our team this summer and look forward to the energy, ideas, and dedication they will bring to our programs and community outreach efforts.

Alexis Funderburk is proud to call Lafayette home, and her journey with the LSU AgCenter has truly meant so much to her. From serving communities across Louisiana to completing her work right here in Lafayette Parish, each experience has deepened her passion for helping others live healthier lives.
As she finishes her M.S. in Nutrition and Dietetics and work toward becoming a Registered Dietitian, Alexis is excited to keep giving back—through education, outreach, and real, practical solutions that make a difference.

A graduate of Acadiana High School and current student and livestock judging team member at Blinn College, Carter Aucoin from Scott, Louisiana is eager to dive deep into the summer internship program at LSU AgCenter. Committed to the agricultural industry, he plans to further nourish his passion for educating the youth in the ag world while working alongside parish agents to help development and organize events, as well as numerous opportunities for the Lafayette Parish youth.

Please join us in wishing Alexis and Carter a great summer with our office! 🌱💜

🌱 Exciting News for Lafayette & Vermilion Parishes! 🌱
We are thrilled to welcome Ms. Audrey Kolde to the Lafayette LSU AgCenter team as our new Horticulture Assistant Agent, beginning May 1, 2026! She will serve both Lafayette (domiciled parish) and Vermilion Parishes, bringing a wealth of knowledge, passion, and hands-on experience to our communities.
Audrey’s journey into agriculture is rooted in a deep curiosity about nature, history, and the way our environment shapes our communities and local economy—especially here in Southwest Louisiana. Her passion for farming reflects her belief that agriculture is a place where people and the land can grow, restore, and thrive together.
🎓 She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science from Louisiana Tech University, focusing on soil health, GIS, chemistry, and resource management.
🌾 She has gained valuable hands-on experience farming in West Virginia and Alabama, leading farm education programs and hosting school field trips.
🥕 Back in Louisiana, she managed the Alexandria Farmers Market for three years, supporting local producers and strengthening access to fresh, local food.
🌿 Most recently, she helped lead vegetable operations at Inglewood Farm/Jubilee Justice, while also working with NCAT/ATTRA to highlight sustainable agriculture across the Gulf States.
Outside of her professional work, Audrey enjoys audiobooks, music, and board games. Her love for farming and community building is deeply rooted in her faith and commitment to serving others.
We are excited for the impact she will make as she begins working alongside our horticulture team during her onboarding process.
💚 Please join us in giving Ms. Audrey Kolde a warm Lafayette LSU AgCenter welcome! 💚
