Take a journey through the archives with us! This week’s Throwback Thursday will look at the origins of our bookmobile. Back in March of 1947, then Parish Librarian Lucille Arceneaux announced that a town-country station wagon would be used to bring books to people in the parish. The Daily Advertiser reported that the station wagon was only temporary while the parish waited for the actual bookmobile to be delivered. The next year, the bookmobile would go on its maiden voyage. Thankfully, today’s bookmobile has been upgraded since its station wagon days!

Story Ship Presents: Diggery Digger’s Dino Adventure is coming to Lafayette Public Library next week! Paleontologist Diggery will take audiences back in time to interact with dinosaurs but things do not go smoothly and the audience has to help Diggery save the day! Little ones had a blast at the special Messy Munchkins: Dino Edition held earlier this week at the Main Library! These mess enthusiasts got to play with taste-safe media, including making dinosaur prints with paint, digging for dinosaurs in the “sand,” rescuing dinosaurs from “lava,” and lastly playing in a pool of spaghetti and dinosaurs.
