Another happy customer through The Forge! I'm so happy with how this Family Crest turned out and especially happy with the engraving. I've been working to improve my consistency on the laser and this was a step in the right direction!

A note for the eagle-eyed: there was an issue with the print of the cover of the Confession/Catechism which we are addressing with the book printer. A fresh copy with a better print job is being sent to our customer post haste.

Some of my followers are aware of my day job in software support, but for those of you who aren't aware just know that design is still a side hustle for me. I love it, but it's not paying the bills quite yet!

The reason I bring that up is because the company I work for was recently purchased by a company called PLACE. While I've been onboarding at PLACE and getting to know the company, I noticed they don't have a brand mark. They use a custom "P" in place of a brand mark in some applications, but mostly they just use their wordmark. If I've learned anything from it's the importance of a brand mark which helps tell the story of the brand. Inspired by some of Allan's recent reels I've been sketching some ideas for a brand mark for PLACE. One of my big ideas is too use a keyhole to represent PLACE's mission to bring homeownership opportunities to millions more Americans.

I'm still working through some of these ideas, but maybe I'll put a little presentation together to share. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I was just tinkering around and this "S" started to take shape, so I ran with it. This was a fun exercise in extrapolating from a brand mark/icon into a more full identity.
