Welcome back to Maui, Rey, Marie, and Laura!

Rey and his family from Southern California told us Olowalu is always their first stop straight from the airport. Rey said, “I’m here for you. That’s why we’re here.” Hearing that meant so much to me.

Meet Mark from the Bay Area. He’s married to a Filipina, and while picking out stickers, he put on his best Filipino accent and said he needed one “por all my aunties.”

When I asked if he spoke Filipino, he proudly answered, “Suka!”

Out of all the Filipino words he could remember, he chose that one. 😂 In Ilocano, s**a means vinegar. In Tagalog, it means to throw up. That answer caught me completely off guard. 🤣

Mahalo for making us laugh, Mark! It was fun talking story with you. You may not speak much Filipino yet, but your accent is coming along nicely. 🤣🤙🏼
