I want to thank and recognize Kaanapali Hyatt for turning down a seven figure reservation in order to continue to house Maui fire survivors! They open themselves up to a lawsuit yet they stood by their guns and continued to house Lahaina residence! Now it is our job to aggressively Search for housing outside of the hotels. It’s not their job to continue to houses this long but they’re doing it because it’s the right thing to do and I applaud that. But we also need to work really hard to find other housing arrangements. I want to emphasize that this video is to ensure that our leaders are learning from this disaster. Wildfire evacuation training exists all over the world and this disaster should’ve been handled much differently.
