Another installment of Moffat's Retro "L" Photos. This time, the Madison stop on the Logan Square/Humboldt Park or "Northwest Branch. This station closed when the Milwaukee Avenue subway opened in 1951. However the station house remained through at least 1985 when I took the two photos of the building serving as a hot dog stand. The platforms lasted until the mid-1960's at least before being finally torn down. The view of the policeman on his motorized three-wheeler dates to 1948 and looks west. The station house is just out of view to the right. Today the structure is used by Pink Line trains and sits in a sea of parking lots for the United Center. All my collection.
