Conflicting information about weightlifting is still around even in 2017. Here is one major myth still circulating which has been debunked to help you stay on track for your new year goals: Lifting weights makes you big and bulky.
Lifting weights does not make you big and bulky, eating too much food will.. :) If you are eating like you are on the clock while lifting heavy weights you will definitely put on mass but with balance you can build strength and still look lean.
Adding muscle mass helps you burn more calories and fat throughout the day. Your genes expect you to lift weights in order to carry more lean muscle for an overall healthier body and hormonal balance. Lifting weights 3 times a week is ideal. If you enjoy other forms of exercise that is great, but adding a minimum of 1-2 hours of weightlifting per week will have you seeing amazing results in how you feel and look.
