Getting to Know Dr. Trudy Bonvino 💙

If you ask Dr. Trudy Bonvino what she enjoys most about orthodontics, she probably won’t start by talking about teeth. She’ll talk about people.

Over the years, she’s had the privilege of watching young children grow into confident adults, celebrating milestones with families, and building relationships that span generations. For Dr. Bonvino, orthodontics has always been about more than creating beautiful smiles. It’s about earning trust, building confidence, and making people feel genuinely cared for.

That same philosophy extends to her team. Dr. Bonvino has created a culture built on collaboration, kindness, and growth. Many members of the Cosmo team have been with her for years, some for more than 15 years, a reflection of a place where people feel valued and build careers, not just jobs.

Dr. Bonvino has always believed dentistry is both a science and an art. During dental school, she developed a strong interest in prosthodontics, drawn to its creativity, precision, and ability to transform smiles. That interest continues to influence her work today, especially in interdisciplinary cases where she can collaborate with general dentists and specialists to create a healthy, beautiful smile and the confidence that comes with it.

Her dedication was recognized early in her career when she received the prestigious Pierre Fauchard Award while attending the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry, honoring excellence in academics, clinical care, leadership, research, and service. More than three decades later, those same values still guide the way she practices and leads.

Outside the office, you’ll often find Dr. Bonvino putting her artistic eye to work in her garden. She loves creating beautiful outdoor spaces and watching them flourish with time and care.

But one of her most treasured roles is simply “Grandma.” As a proud grandmother of three, she loves spending time with her grandchildren, watching their personalities grow, and making memories together. If you ever get the chance to ask her about them, you’ll quickly see just how much they mean to her.

Whether she’s creating a smile, collaborating with a colleague, mentoring her team, tending her garden, or enjoying time as Grandma, there’s a common thread in Dr. Bonvino’s story: she genuinely invests in people and the relationships she builds with them. 💙
