A new state law: S.C. Code § 23-31-215 now requires gun owners to report any lost or stolen handgun within 10 days of discovering the loss.

Failing to report within this timeframe could lead to criminal charges.

This law is designed to help law enforcement recover stolen fi****ms faster, prevent their use in crimes, and promote responsible gun ownership.
