Thanks to all who attended the 18th Mason High School Reunion held July 14 & 15 at the American Legion building in Danville KY. We were truly "REUNITED and It Felt SO GOOD!" i hope you enjoyed yourselves as much as the officers and planning committee did. We received lots of compliments on the Memorial Service.
Wasn't Pastor Barry Bowman's message wonderful and comforting? His subject was "In Memoriam." He assured us that it's OK to grieve the passing of our loved ones and gave several situations in the Bible where Jesus and others displayed their grief. We remembered the names of 80+ graduates, students and family members who gained their wings since Reunion 2019.
The food for Hospitality Night prepared by Sula Jones (& those greens at the Banquet), Georgetta Hocker (& that hot water cornbread and cake & sauce at the Banquet), Betty Mays (the boiled eggs to go with the greens) and Lucy Ballew was THE bomb!! Our caterer Angela Leavell prepared an outstanding banquet meal!! We had baked and fried chicken, country ham, dressing, gravy, Mac & cheese, sweet potatoes, green beans, greens, boiled eggs, sliced onions, hot water cornbread, salad, chocolate & yellow cake smothered in hot brown sugar sauce, tea with Lemonade, assorted soft drinks and water. Our President Paul McPherson brought a timely message with a review of news events that affected Black Lives in the last four years and a challenge to excellence!! Shout out to DJ Chuck Jones and Maurice Bell with the 360 Photo Booth which was a hit!! Please share the photos that you took and your uploads from the 360 Photo Booth. Someone please share the log in for the Photo Booth.
Special Thanks to Jackie Lawson, Margaret VanDyke, Dr. Betty Olinger, Pastors Mike and James McPherson, James Franklin Warren, Cabal Merritt and Doris Buford Cannon for assistance on the program. My brothers, Terry and Wilber Dunn, held me down ALL DAY Friday with set up and decorating. All of you who helped with take down and clean up when everything ended were lifesavers.
Thanks to Francis Screen Printing for our T-shirts and the FedEx Store for printing our programs. Many thanks to all who purchased advertisements and space In Honor of OR In Memory of Loved Ones. The teamwork was phenomenal!! I apologize for being a bit "bossy" at times, but decades of teaching sixth grades made me that way. 😊 Thanks again to everyone for your support and allowing me the opportunity to lead Reunion 2023.
Congratulations and Best wishes to the recipients of our four $500 Alumni Scholarships and their families: Ian Alcorn, Jalen Dunn, Macee Logan and Kyrin Norris.
Thanks to those who came in from out of state: Doris Jean Buford and husband John Cannon, Vernice & Minnie Pullins. Thanks to the generosity of alumni and friends from KY and throughout the US who donated to our Scholarship Fund, sent messages of love and best wishes, and patronized in other ways. If I didn't mention your name, please know that you are loved and appreciated! Your support will last in our memories for a very long time! Blessings to all of you❣💕🥰
