The Damselfly is known to have the best vision among insects. How science came to this conclusion, I do not know. But look at the size of those eyes in proportion with the rest of its head and one can fairly easily determine that they must be that large for a reason.

The last week of December 2025 I selected the word VISION to mark 2026. Now, a little over half way through the year, my vision, as well as the sight of many around me, still seems to be limited by a low hanging fog. I have been praying for years now for VISION - for the fog to dissipate - the veil to be lifted and removed.

In this season where clarity is hard to find, viewing life from behind the lens of my beloved camera does offer me different perspectives of which I am extremely grateful for. It allows me to magnify beauty in the common, ordinary, and often overlooked things. The magic of photography can take something deemed ugly to the naked eye and turn it into a magnificent piece of art, similar to how God can take our not so complimentary parts and perfect them and use them for His glory. May that be so with our imperfect eyesight and understanding of what we see.

May He perfect my VISION - our VISION.

What you don’t see in this video is how every fiber of my being is connected to Creation.

How it wraps me up in a warm embrace that I feel in the depths of my core —

How the aroma of honeysuckle that floats upon the breeze reminds me that throughout Genesis 1 the Lord declared His creation to be good - very good —

How the sound of birds singing and chipmunks chirping invites my heart to sing an anthem of praise —

How my vision can see beyond the beauty of everything around me and recognize the ache - the ache for healing and restoration —

How not only can I feel, smell, hear, and see that I am part of an amazingly intricate and beautiful design, but I can taste it. I can taste it and declare that it is good - very good.

I am most whole when immersed within the embrace of creation. It dwells deep within my very fabric. It is woven into my very being.

Just now, in the Our Daily Bread Devotional I read Ephesians 6:1-8. This scripture has often been taken out of context and has been weaponized. It’s the scripture that on the surface commands children to obey their parents and slaves to obey their masters. This has always been a difficult scripture for me to align with. But, smack dab in the middle of that scripture reference is this gem —

Ephesians 6:4 NLT

“Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord.”

So yes, let us honor and celebrate our fathers today. But, may we also extend some understanding and grace to those of us that each time Father’s Day rolls around we find ourselves standing in the card aisle picking up card, after card, after card, realizing that the saccharine sentiments will never come from a place of authenticity and that leaves us feeling hollow - on the outside edge - unable to connect to the celebration.

A beautiful hike except for when I walked into the lair of natures’s tiny vampires otherwise known as horseflies. They were extremely excited about my visit, but I wasn’t too thrilled with their hospitality. 😬

Someone must have alerted the woodland creatures that I was coming to take their portraits today because they were certainly posing!

Blessed to be part of an amazing artisan shop, Buttons & Burlap LLC in New Holland, PA. Here the owner, Beth, brilliantly reads one of my children’s books.
