There are moments in this work that remind us exactly why we do what we do.

Across California, there are individuals who are terminally ill, still incarcerated, and nearing the end of their lives. Through compassionate release, they are given a chance to spend their final days outside of prison—but too often, there is nowhere appropriate for them to go.

This is where we, as a community, must step in.

At Timelist Group, we are working to build a Recuperative Care, ECM, and CalAIM-supported program in Lancaster that doesn’t just focus on stabilization—but on dignity. A place where individuals who have been granted compassionate release can receive medical support, humane care, and most importantly… the opportunity to be surrounded by family in their final hours.

Because no one should take their last breath alone in a system that was never designed for end-of-life care.

This is about more than reentry.
This is about humanity.
This is about giving families the chance to say goodbye.

We are calling on partners—health plans, hospitals, CDCR, and community stakeholders—to join us in making this vision real. Together, we can create a model that honors life, even at its end.
