We are now in the third week of summer, and our training is fully underway.

This week's training sessions are being held in Allen, Houston, and San Antonio.

Chief Wherley and Mrs. Tippit are participating in the annual Texas School District Police Chiefs' Association Conference, which demonstrates the Chief's commitment to ongoing learning and professional development, comprising 32 hours of training.

Meanwhile, Officer Tutton and K-9 Lucy are undergoing mandatory annual K-9 training in San Antonio, a 40-hour program crucial to ensuring the safety of our students and staff.

Additionally, Officers Baker and Uresti are attending the Juvenile Crisis Intervention Training in Allen, a 32-hour course designed to enhance their knowledge and response to juvenile-related crisis.

We have officially commenced June, marking the beginning of our summer training.

Recently, Officer Carrillo successfully completed a crucial training course. This training will play a vital role in enhancing our capabilities to ensure a safe learning environment throughout the district this summer.

The ALERRT AAIR Train the Trainer Course is a comprehensive 40-hour program that focuses on integrating law enforcement, fire, EMS, and tele-communicators during active attack events.

Congratulations are in order for Officer Carrillo on becoming a certified ALERRT AAIR Instructor.

On Wednesday during the award assembly at Elsie Robertson Middle School, Sergeant Washington-White presented three students with the Bravery in Action Award for their demonstrated courage, quick thinking, and compassion in response to a critical incident that occurred on campus.

We extend our gratitude to these students for their exemplary bravery.

As National Police Week concludes, we remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice. May they never be forgotten.

We would also like to take a moment to acknowledge the unwavering dedication and hard work of our officers who tirelessly serve our district. With a remarkable total of 35,541 combined training hours, our officers collectively bring approximately 290 years of service experience, encompassing a broad spectrum of roles including Telecommunications, Detention Services, and Peace Officer positions. Notably, seven officers have achieved Master Peace Officer Certification, four hold an Advanced Peace Officer Certification, and one holds a Master Telecommunications Certification. Additionally, our officers possess a multitude of other critical certifications that ensure the seamless operation of our department.

As we transition into summer, our commitment to providing a safe environment for students and staff remains unwavering, reflected in the increased training hours scheduled. The diverse backgrounds and experiences of our officers converge to form a superior department, rich in varied perspectives and extensive knowledge.

In observance of National Police Week, we will be sharing informative highlights about police departments, with a specific emphasis on Independent School District (ISD) police departments.

Today's notable fact is: The establishment of Independent School District (ISD) police departments in Texas dates back to the late 1960s, with Klein ISD, located in Klein, Texas, frequently referenced as one of the pioneering departments, established in 1982. Consequently, the inception of the first ISD police department occurred over 44 years ago.
