"People in general are lacking things like discipline, accountability, confidence. Confidence is why a lot of conflict happens," Lynn said.

He believes if kids can build confidence and accountability at The Village Lansing, it can change how they handle conflict outside.

"If everyone walked around with that mindset that, I'm confident in me and what I am regardless of anything, things would be different," Lynn said.

There’s been a lot of talk this week saying ā€œnothing is being doneā€ about gun violence in our community.

That’s not true.

There are people showing up every single week doing real work—coordinating, responding, and building solutions. And this week is no different.

If you care about what’s happening, don’t just watch from the outside—come be part of it.

Here’s what’s happening this week:

Monday (12–2 PM) – CI-CPR Meeting
Our Critical Incident Community Planned Response (CI-CPR) is a community-led response model activated after shootings. This is where we organize how we support impacted families, stabilize neighborhoods, and coordinate real-time response—not weeks later, but immediately.

Tuesday (4–5:30 PM) – Economic Development Advisory Table
We’re tackling gun violence from the root. This meeting focuses on how economic opportunity, development, and the built environment (housing, spaces, investment) play a direct role in preventing violence before it starts.

Wednesday (12-1pm)– Lansing 360 Weekly Gun violence prevention collaborative Meeting.
This is our standing gun violence coordination meeting. We review what’s happening in real time, share updates on incidents, and most importantly, plug people into action. If you’ve ever asked ā€œwhat can I do?ā€ā€”this is where you start.

We don’t need more commentary, we need more people at the table.

If you’re frustrated, concerned, or just want to understand what’s really happening, pull up this week.

All meetings are held at:

Reo Elementary 1221 Reo rd Lansing,MI 48910

Real work is being done.
The question is—will you be part of it?

The Village Lansing's 1st Black History Pop-up Museum was a success! šŸ–¤

Over the past month, our TVL Youth Boxers at have been researching and creating projects about local Black leaders in Lansing. We wrapped it all up this weekend with our Black History Pop-Up Museum, where their work was on display for the community šŸ–¼ļøā¤ļø

The kids stood by their projects and presented what they learned to every guest who came through. They became the experts, taking on roles as researchers, artists, and storytellers. They shared facts, answered questions, and explained why their person mattered. While the students taught the community, the community also shared their own stories and connections with the students.

This event was a great success, and showcased how celebrating our local history can bring people together across generations. Our students ended the day feeling empowered and proud of what they had accomplished 😊

āŠ Thank you to our boxers, families, and everyone who showed up to support our youth— it takes a village! šŸ„ŠšŸ–¤
