The first night of Hanukkah is less than a week away! To get the celebrations started early, we are brushing up on the basic rules for playing with the dreidel!

Check them out:

• Each player begins with an equal number of chocolate coins

• At the beginning of each round, every participant puts one game piece into the center “pot.”

• Players take turns spinning the dreidel

• Depending on the side it lands on, you give or get game pieces from the pot

✨For those who don’t read Hebrew, here’s a cheat sheet:

a) Nun: Do nothing.

b) Gimel: Take everything in the pot.

c) Hey: Take half of the pot.

d) Shin: add a coin to the pot.

• If you run out of coins, you are either “out” or may ask a fellow player for a “loan.”

• When one person has won everything, that round of the game is over!
