Pics from this past Saturdays distro.. Did y'all know that July is Lasagna Awareness Month? Well for the past 3 years this fantastic group called Lasagna Love ( they provide large trays of lasagna for folks in need) has reached out to us to host a lasagna distro, complete with lasagna, salad, bread sticks and a cookie or brownie. Saturday was our lasagna day ❤️
I don't know if I've EVER seen our food line as long as it was this weekend! I'm glad we had enough lasagna to get thru the whole distribution, but I'll admit a little bummed that there wasn't any leftover for any of us to take some home. I absolutely appreciate all of our volunteers that help out, from the lunch packing, the street outreach team, that goes out, typically for longer shifts, not even knowing if or how many people they will find, lately there's been no shortage of people at camps though, from the people who bake cookies or provide sweet treats via the PWL Bakers Group, to the Soup Ladies that plan a hot meal each distribution, folks who help to load up our supplies, and those who help to make kits throughout the week. Thanks so much, love you all. Thanks for doing the thing.

Hey friends! One of our LGBTQ unhoused people recently was approved for housing after being unhoused for 2+ years!
We're hoping to help them out by fundraising/collecting donations for the things they are looking for to make their new place even better!
Here's a list of needs/wants:
1. First and foremost,they need to pay an $85 deposit for utilities, they need that ASAP.
2. Bedding (Queen size sheets, blanket, pillow cases.) Received some but additional sets would be appreciated.
3. Toaster
4. Dishes (plates and bowls) Received some but a few more would be appreciated.
5. Towels
6. TV (might have one just need to confirm. )
7. Teapot.
8. Knives.
9. Lamp
10. 2 Kitchen chairs or bar stools
Any monetary help for smaller household items that add up is appreciated (like TP, paper towels, cleaning supplies, all the extra small things needed when setting up a new place)
They already have a bed, a couch, a dresser and isn't looking for more large furniture.
They're not asking for a lot, but any help with these items is appreciated.

Just an FYI the PWL Harm Reduction Office and Mobile unit will be closed tomorrow July 4th. The office will reopen on Friday July 5th at noon. Take care and be safe.

Punks With Lunch Lansing Harm Reduction Hub located inside the Fledge as well as the Mobile Unit will be closed Wednesday June 19th in honor of Juneteenth. We will reopen for our regular hours Thursday June 20th. Thanks and have a good day.

Our Story
Punks With Lunch Lansing was inspired by Punks With Lunch Oakland and is spearheaded by Julia Anne Miller, a longtime community activist. In September of 2017 she pitched the idea to friends, family and other local community groups. In November of 2017 the first donation drive was conducted in conjunction with Food Not Bombs Lansing at The Avenue Cafe and was a stunning success, bringing in a plethora of winter clothing, food and cash donations. The first outreach event, an impromptu outing, was on Thanksgiving day 2017, with the disbursement of lunches and winter clothing in downtown Lansing. The first official outing, again in conjunction with Food Not Bombs, took place on December 2nd, 2017, with warm meals, sack lunches, personal care items and warm clothing being distributed to those in need. The support of several local organizations and businesses have helped the launch of this dream.
As of 1/20/2018 we have conducted seven outreach events, including two special calls to local day centers for those struggling with homelessness. We successfully fulfilled a holiday wish at JIMHO (Justice In Mental Health Organization) to restock their bookcases, have prepared over 300 sack lunches, distributed warm coats to over 60 individuals, and provided dozens of socks, hats, gloves, scarfs, sweaters and even boots. Street Kitchen and The Avenue Cafe continue to be amazing supporters of Punks With Lunch. Our next objective is to start providing laundry coupons and bus tokens along with the referral services, warm clothing and sack lunches. Future projects we are actively brainstorming include providing a street pantry, meal sponsorship's for struggling families and providing Narcan along with needle exchange. Keep an eye out for updates. :)
