Today, we recognize Juneteenth—a day that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and celebrates freedom, resilience, and progress.

📚 DE&I Resource of the Month:

As part of our DE&I Committee's commitment to learning and growth, we explored A Candle Against the Darkness by Robert M. Copeland and D. Ray Wilcox. One passage that stood out was a quote from abolitionist pastor James Renwick Wilson Sloane:

"This abominable traffic in human flesh, and bones, and souls, to embroil and degrade if not to ultimately ruin, our beloved, and otherwise happy country."

His words remind us that positive change is driven by individuals willing to speak up, challenge injustice, and lead with courage.

Juneteenth is more than a historical milestone—it is an opportunity to reflect on the leaders who came before us and consider how we can continue building communities where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
